This self-paced on-line course is
aimed at teachers who would like to explore
each of the strands of the Mathematics curriculum
in a structured and systematic way including Number,
Shape & Space, Measures,
Data and Algebra,
looking at explanations of key mathematical concepts
and processes, main teaching points, along with approaches
and methodologies. Mental arithmetic strategies for
addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
will also be covered.
The on-line format of the course enables you to
study when and where you want to
learn. Content is divided into 5 modules which you
can complete in any order within an 8 week
period (1st July to 22nd August 2008).
Participants are encouraged to interact with one
another using the communication tools (forum, chat,
e-mail) provided by the CPD College learning system.
Active facilitation throughout the course provides
expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all
participants. Assignments and questions which call
for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned
response punctuate this highly interactive web based
course.
On completion of the course the participant will
be presented with their own time record, excercise
content and approval by the course facilitator as
their CPD record to keep.
