Third & Fourth Class Education: Detailing the varied approaches that can be taken to reading and provision of a wealth of virtual maths manipulatives.

In this self-paced on-line course we begin by looking at the defining principles and features of the primary school curriculum. We explore the nature of learning and look at assessment as a central starting point to teaching and learning and look at short and long term planning as fundamental to proper curriculum delivery. We will look at practical material for the writing of poetry, the development of reading and the writing of various text types as are suitable for third and fourth class level along with ideas for exploring the class novel.

Practical approaches to concept building in mathematics will be explored, followed by lots of creative ideas for visual arts and activities for all areas of the P.E. programme.

The on-line format of the course enables you to study when and where you want to learn. Content is divided into 5 modules which you can complete in any order between July 1st and August 27th 2010.

Participants are encouraged to interact with one another using the communication tools (forum, chat, e-mail) provided by the CPD College learning system. Active facilitation throughout the course provides expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all participants. Assignments and questions which call for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned response punctuate this highly interactive web based course.

On completion of the course the participant will be presented with their own time record, excercise content and approval by the course facilitator as their CPD record to keep.
