First & Second Class Education: Peer-tutored paired reading and the Jolly Phonics Grammar & Spelling programme as a support to writing.

In this self-paced on-line course looks at the ‘Reading Buddies’ Programme as an approach to developing reading fluency among emergent readers, followed by a detailed look at the Jolly Phonics Spelling and Grammar programme. We take a practical approach to developing the concepts in the First & Second Class mathematics programme, with an emphasis on online interactive resources to support concept development. Finally we examine the S.E.S.E. from a practical hands-on perspective, balancing theory with practice, and indoor with outdoor activity.

The on-line format of the course enables you to study when and where you want to learn. Content is divided into 5 modules which you can complete in any order between July 1st and August 27th 2010.

Participants are encouraged to interact with one another using the communication tools (forum, chat, e-mail) provided by the CPD College learning system. Active facilitation throughout the course provides expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all participants. Assignments and questions which call for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned response punctuate this highly interactive web based course.

On completion of the course the participant will be presented with their own time record, excercise content and approval by the course facilitator as their CPD record to keep.
