In
this self-paced on-line course we
begin by looking at the defining principles and features
of the primary school curriculum. We explore the nature
of learning and look at assessment as a central starting
point to teaching and learning and look at short and
long term planning as fundamental to proper curriculum
delivery. We will work through various text types
in English in order to better understand their defining
features as they relate to childrens’ reading
and writing.
We will examine some of the best approaches to concept
building in mathematics supplemented by quality teaching
resource materials, followed by lots of creative approaches
& ideas for visual arts and activities for all
areas of the P.E. programme in Fifth & Sixth class.
A ‘Thematic’ approach to S.E.S.E. will
be explored and promoted.
The on-line format of the course enables you to study
when and where you want to learn. Content
is divided into 5 modules which you can complete in
any order between July 1st and August 27th
2010.
Participants are encouraged to interact with one
another using the communication tools (forum, chat,
e-mail) provided by the CPD College learning system.
Active facilitation throughout the course provides
expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all
participants. Assignments and questions which call
for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned
response punctuate this highly interactive web based
course.
On completion of the course the participant will
be presented with their own time record, excercise
content and approval by the course facilitator as
their CPD record to keep.
